A Mile Stone in the History of Tribal Education
Friends of Tribals Society has crossed a major mile stone in serving the tribals of India. FTS has started its 12th chapter at Silchar (North East) on 11th Jan, 2005. Silchar is situated in the far-flung tribal dominant North East India.
In a grand Inaugural Function on the 11th of January, 2005 at 07.00 pm at Jain Bhawan, the chapter was declared opened by National President of FTS, Sri Rameshwarlal Kabra. The function was presided over by Sri Subhash Chandra Saha, Vice Chancellor, Assam University. Sri Mangilal Jain, National General Secretary, Sri D.P.Poddar, National Treasurer and Sri Bhagavati Prasad Jalan, President, FTS Raipur were present.
A beautiful cultural programme by the students of Ekal Vidyalayas enchanted the people of Silchar. The urban FTS team felicitated the Full Time Workers who are working for the ekal cause.
Sri Ram Awatar Agarwal is the President of the new chapter, supported by Sri Hanuman Jain as his secretary. The new chapter has 33 members representing the elite of Silchar.
Silchar Chapter has created history by starting its new office in its own new building. The new office was inaugurated in the morning by performing Gayatri Yagna, on 11th Jan., 2005 at 09.00 am.

Birmingham Youth Chapter comes up with innovative ideas
The volunteers of the Birmingham Youth Chapter have decided to put up donation boxes at various restaurants and gas stations. In addition to this, it was decided that they would personally visit various restaurants (Indian as well as American) and ask them if they could contribute a dollar from each meal they serve on the 26th of January towards the Ekal cause. The volunteers would help their business by asking people to go out and eat at these restaurants on the 26th Jan as one dollar from each of their meals would be going to the Ekal cause. Also, it was decided to put donation boxes and Ekal flyers on those restaurants and gas stations which agree.
